Kate Moore will speak about and sign her new book, The Radium Girls: The Dark Story of America’s Shining Women, on Wednesday, May 17th at 7:30pm. She will be in conversation with Susan Marie Frontczak.
About the Book:
During the First World War, hundreds of "shining girls" toiled amidst the glowing dust of the radium-dial factories — until they began to fall mysteriously ill. The factories ignored all claims of the side effects, and as the fatal poison of the radium took hold, the brave girls were embroiled in one of the biggest scandals of America's early 20th century. The Radium Girls illuminates the inspiring young women exposed to the "wonder" substance of radium, and their strength in almost impossible circumstances.
