Michael Pollan -- "Cooked" **AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH**
05/08/2013 12:30 pm
**THIS EVENT IS NOW HAPPENING AT FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH**
Michael Pollan will speak about and sign his new book, Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation, on Wednesday, May 8th at *12:30pm* at First Congregational Church.
About the book:
Michael Pollan, bestselling author of In Defense of Food and The Omnivores Dilemma, explores the previously uncharted territory of his own kitchen in his newest book, Cooked. Here, he discovers the enduring power of the four classical elements—fire, water, air and earth—to transform the stuff of nature into delicious things to eat and drink. In the course of his journey, he discovers that the cook occupies a special place in the world, standing squarely between nature and culture. Each section of Cooked tracks Pollan’s effort to master a single classic recipe using one of the four elements.
Tickets to attend are $30 and include a copy of Cooked. Tickets can be purchased in advance, over the phone, at the door. Readers Guild Members can reserve seats at any in-store event.
