From Our Shelves Fiction Bookclub is open to the public and meets at 7pm on the fourth Tuesday of every month in the Upper North Room of Boulder Book Store. Unless otherwise noted, the author will not be present at the discussion. Please join us!

Start: 7:30 pm

Jackson Galaxy will speak about and sign his new book, Cat Daddy, on Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:30pm.

About the book:
Cat behaviorist and star of Animal Planet’s hit TV show My Cat from Hell, Jackson Galaxy, a.k.a. “Cat Daddy,” isn’t what you might expect for a cat expert (as The New York Times noted, with his goatee and tattoos he “looks like a Hells Angel”). Yet Galaxy’s ability to connect with even the most troubled felines—not to mention the stressed-out humans living in their wake—is awe-inspiring. In Cat Daddy, Galaxy tells the poignant story of his 13-year relationship with a petite gray-and-white short-haired cat named Benny, and gives advice for living with, caring for, and loving the feline in your home.

Vouchers to attend are $5 and get you $5 off the author’s featured book or a purchase on the day of the event. Vouchers can be purchased in advance and over the phone.

Start: 7:30 pm

Thomas Graham Jr. will speak about and sign his new book, Unending Crisis, on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:30pm.

About the book:
In Unending Crisis, Thomas Graham Jr. examines the Bush administration's misguided management of foreign policy, the legacy of which has been seven major—and almost irresolvable—national security crises involving North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, the Arab-Israeli conflict in Palestine, and nuclear proliferation. Graham considers these issues individually and together, emphasizing their interrelationship and delineating the role that the neoconservative agenda played in redefining the way America is perceived in the world today.

Start: 7:30 pm

Mark Fiege will speak about and sign his new book, The Republic of Nature, on Thursday, May 24th at 7:30pm.

About the book:
In the dramatic narratives that comprise The Republic of Nature, Mark Fiege reframes the canonical account of American history based on the simple but radical premise that nothing in the nation's past can be considered apart from the natural circumstances in which it occurred. Revisiting familiar historical icons, he makes surprising connections that enable readers to see old stories in a new light. The Republic of Nature points to a startlingly different version of history that calls on readers to reconnect with fundamental forces that shaped the American experience.
